Lutah Maria Riggs Scholarship
This venerable award is named after the groundbreaking first
licensed female architect in Santa Barbara and is traditionally
awarded to a woman. Lutah Riggs was a prominent architect in Santa
Barbara having worked for and with George Washington Smith until
his death in 1930. She continued her own architectural practice
in Santa Barbara with projects in many other Southern California
communities as well.
This will be the 12th year the scholarship will be awarded. Applications
are accepted from any architectural student with special consideration
for women, at the undergraduate or graduate level.
The Architectural Foundation of Santa Barbara and the Lutah Maria
Riggs Scholarship Committee wish to express their sincere gratitude
to the individuals and organizations
who have generously donated to the Lutah Maria Riggs scholarship
fund for the year 2004.
